A remark (Enquiry on Results) must be requested within six weeks of your test date.
How Long IELTS Results Take in Pakistan
| Test | British Council | IDP |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS on computer (Academic or General Training) | 1–2 days: online 24–48 hours after the test | Within 1–5 business days |
| IELTS for UKVI, on computer | 1–2 days | Within 1–5 business days |
| IELTS for UKVI Life Skills | Up to 9 days | About 7 days |
Checked on the British Council Pakistan and IDP Pakistan pages, 13 October 2026 (IDP’s Life Skills timing on 21 September 2026). These are the providers’ usual times, not promises.
IELTS on computer is now the standard format in Pakistan, so the first row applies to almost everyone.
The scores you first see in your account are a preview, and the British Council says they shouldn’t be used as official confirmation. Your official record is your Test Report Form (TRF), which for IELTS on computer is an electronic TRF (e-TRF) you download as a PDF. Send that, or have the provider send your result directly, rather than a screenshot.
IELTS Result Check with the British Council: Step by Step
Hard-copy TRFs aren’t issued as standard for computer-delivered tests. If an organisation outside the Secure Test Results Delivery (STED) system needs a paper copy, you can apply through the British Council’s Application for the Issuance of Additional TRF. Requests are considered only in exceptional circumstances, need supporting evidence and cost extra: PKR 1,000 by Pakistan Post, or PKR 4,750–5,550 by FedEx or DHL, on its price sheet effective 2 July 2026. The British Council doesn’t give results by phone or email.
For IELTS Life Skills, your TRF is couriered to your registered address within 7 working days after your result is released.
IELTS Result Check with IDP: Step by Step
If you took a paper-based test by special arrangement, ask your test centre how to collect your TRF.
Online Preview vs the Official Test Report Form
| What it is | How to use it | |
|---|---|---|
| Online preview | Your scores, shown in your account when first released | Check your scores. Don’t send a screenshot as proof unless the receiver asks for one |
| e-TRF | Your official Test Report Form, as a PDF in your account | Download, print or email it, or send it to organisations through your account |
| Hard-copy TRF | A paper TRF | British Council, computer tests: only in exceptional cases, for a fee. Life Skills: couriered to you |
Use your provider’s documents as the official record, and follow the receiving organisation’s instructions.
Use the results pages of the provider you booked with: British Council Pakistan or IDP Pakistan. Their processes are separate, so don’t follow one provider’s steps for the other’s test.
Sending Your IELTS Result to a University, Employer or Visa Authority
Follow the receiving organisation’s current instructions. Some receive verified results electronically from the provider; others ask for details from your TRF or use their own portal.
- Add the organisation in your provider account, using the exact name or code the receiver gives you. Organisations on the Secure Test Results Delivery (STED) system get your result electronically.
- Check how the receiver wants it: electronic delivery, a downloaded e-TRF, or details entered in its own portal.
- Use your free sends first. With the British Council, five extra e-TRFs sent to organisations are free.
- Keep confirmations: the receiver you selected, any payment record and the provider’s status messages.
If the organisation isn’t listed, or a deadline is close, contact the provider and the receiver directly instead of guessing how long delivery will take.
Not Happy with Your Score? Request an Enquiry on Results
An Enquiry on Results (EOR) is a paid remark of your test by a senior IELTS examiner, requested through the provider that ran your test.
- Deadline: within six weeks of your test date. After that, you can’t apply.
- What’s remarked: one or more skills (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking), or the whole test.
- Your band can’t go down: it stays the same or goes up.
- Refund: the fee is refunded if your score goes up, and a new TRF is issued.
- Timing: from the same day to 21 days with the British Council, and from 2 hours to 21 days with IDP, depending on how many skills you ask for. If you’ve heard nothing after 28 days, contact your provider.
- How to apply: with the British Council, online in the Test Taker Portal for IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI on computer (Life Skills has its own form). With IDP, through the IDP test centre where you took the test, using its Enquiry on Results request form.
| Test | British Council | IDP |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS on computer (Academic or General Training) | PKR 39,650 | PKR 40,500 |
| IELTS for UKVI | PKR 41,000 | PKR 41,000 |
| IELTS Life Skills | PKR 27,550 | PKR 27,550 |
Enquiry on Results fees, checked 13 October 2026. The fee is the same whether you ask for one skill or the whole test.
The British Council takes EOR payments by interbank transfer (IBFT), bank draft, or cash at Standard Chartered or MCB, including into the virtual account linked to your IELTS registration number. If you disagree with a remark, it has a two-stage appeals process: you apply within 21 calendar days of the decision, and each stage’s outcome comes within 10 weeks.
What to Do Next, Depending on Your Score
- You met every requirement: send your result and keep your e-TRF safe. IELTS recommends treating a result as valid for two years from the test date, but the receiver decides: see how long IELTS is valid.
- One skill fell short: you can request a remark of that skill, or check whether One Skill Retake fits: it must be within 60 days of an eligible IELTS on computer test, and the organisation receiving your result has to accept it. Our IELTS fee guide lists the costs.
- You need a higher band overall: plan a full retake around your weakest skill. There’s no limit on how many times you can take IELTS. Our free IELTS level check shows where you stand now, with Writing and Speaking marked within 24 hours.
